Crua Camino
Cultivating collaborative spiritual experiences through nature connection, social connection, and physical work
We create the environment, you create the experience
Adventure. Nature. Connection.
Experiential retreats in the mountains of Asturias
A different way of being.
Our mission is to cultivate collaborative, authentic and meaningful experiences through nature connection, social connection, creative expression and physical work.
Crua Camino offers small group retreats in the heart of Asturias, combining adventure, nature, reflection and authentic local culture.
It is a chance to challenge yourself, slow down, reconnect and share something meaningful with others.
A Different Kind of Journey
There is something that happens when we step outside our usual surroundings.
The distractions become quieter.
The landscape becomes bigger.
The conversations become deeper.
And perhaps we begin to hear ourselves a little more clearly.
Crua Camino creates space for that experience.
Our retreats bring together physical challenge, outdoor adventure, time in nature, reflection, local culture and good food — all within the spectacular mountain landscape of Asturias.
Small groups. Meaningful experiences. Sincere care.
The Crua Camino Experience
Adventure
Hike through ancient mountain landscapes. Follow forest trails. Cycle through valleys. Take to the water. Ride through the countryside.
Our retreats are active, but they are not about competition. They are about exploration, connection and discovery.
Challenge yourself at your own level and discover what lies beyond your comfort zone.
Nature
Asturias is a place of extraordinary natural beauty.
Mountains, forests, rivers, valleys and coastline create the backdrop for our journey.
We believe that spending meaningful time in nature can change the way we see ourselves and the world around us.
Wellbeing
Wellbeing is not simply about rest.
It is about how we live.
Our retreats create space to move, breathe, eat well, sleep deeply, reflect and reconnect.
There is time for activity and time for stillness.
Challenge and recovery.
Solitude and community.
Connection
The best journeys are rarely made alone.
From shared meals to mountain adventures, Crua Camino creates opportunities for genuine human connection.
Come as strangers.
Leave as part of a community.
Reflection
Each day offers space to pause.
To ask questions.
To listen.
To consider where you are, where you’ve come from and where you’re going.
Reflection is woven naturally into the experience rather than imposed upon it.
Local Culture
We want you to experience Asturias rather than simply visit it.
That means local food, local people, local places and local traditions. A proud and rich Celtic heritage, steeped in folklore, mythology and mystery.
We work with local providers and aim to ensure that the benefits of tourism are shared within the communities that welcome us.
Your Week in the Mountains
Every retreat is different, but the rhythm remains familiar.
Day 1 — The Journey Begins
Arrive in Asturias and travel into the mountains to your home for the week.
Settle in, meet your fellow travellers and begin the journey.
Day 2 — Into the Mountains
Our first full day begins with breakfast, reflection and an introduction to the week.
Then we head into the mountains for our first adventure.
Day 3 — Adventure & Exploration
A day of outdoor exploration, with activities such as horse riding, trekking or another locally guided experience.
Time to explore and time to rest.
Day 4 — Rest, Recovery & Connection
A slower day.
Relax, recover and reconnect before enjoying another shared group experience and an evening of local food.
Day 5 — A Day to Breathe
Space to find your own rhythm.
Optional activities, personal time, reflection and another opportunity to experience the landscape and culture of Asturias.
Day 6 — The Challenge
A day to test yourself.
Depending on the retreat, this may involve a trail-running challenge, mountain trek or another significant outdoor adventure.
The challenge is about more than performance.
It’s about discovering what we’re capable of — and supporting one another along the way.
Day 7 — The Journey Together
Explore more of the Asturian landscape before coming together for our final reflection and celebration.
A final evening around the table.
A chance to look back on the journey we’ve shared.
Day 8 — The Camino Continues
After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
The retreat ends.
The Camino continues.
Small Groups. Big Experiences.
Crua Camino retreats are intentionally small.
With groups of approximately 6–8 participants, we can create a more personal experience while minimising our impact on the places we visit.
Small groups allow us to:
- Travel more responsibly
- Build genuine connections
- Adapt activities to the group
- Work closely with local providers
- Experience the landscape without overwhelming it
Asturias
A place worth getting lost in.
In northern Spain, surrounded by mountains, forests and the Atlantic, Asturias offers something increasingly rare:
Space.
Space to breathe.
Space to explore.
Space to think.
Our base in the mountains of Teverga places us within a landscape shaped by nature, tradition and generations of local life.
We don’t want to simply bring people here.
We want to help them connect with the place.
The Hermitage
A place to slow down.
Crua Camino is being developed around an existing rural cabin and finca in the mountains of Teverga.
Our long-term vision is to create a small mountain hermitage rooted in the natural landscape and inspired by Celtic and Asturian cultural traditions.
The property is being sensitively restored rather than replaced.
We aim to use local expertise, local materials and bioconstruction principles wherever practical.
The vision extends beyond retreats.
In time, the space may also host:
- Artist residencies
- Educational programmes
- Small community events
- Outdoor learning
- Cultural experiences
A place for people to come together, create, learn and reconnect.
Our Commitment to Place
We believe that tourism should leave places stronger, not diminished.
Crua Camino is committed to:
Restore, don’t replace
We are regenerating an existing rural property while respecting its architectural character.
Build responsibly
We aim to work with local architects, builders and craftspeople and use local materials wherever practical.
Travel lightly
Small groups, responsible outdoor practices and respect for the natural environment are central to our approach.
Support locally
We work with local guides, activity providers, restaurants, producers and businesses.
Give something back
Five percent of retreat revenue will be allocated to the Meitheal Fund, helping make retreat experiences accessible to people who might otherwise be unable to participate.
The Meitheal Fund
The journey is better when everyone can take part.
The Irish word meitheal describes a tradition of people coming together to help one another.
It captures something at the heart of Crua Camino.
We believe experiences like this should be available to everyone.
For this reason, Crua Camino will commit 5% of retreat revenue to the Meitheal Fund.
The fund will support subsidised or fully funded retreat places for people experiencing financial or social disadvantage.
Over time, we hope to develop partnerships with organisations working in wellbeing, education, mental health and community development.
